Our workshops
Red Dirt Robotics offers a range of engaging STEM workshops that bring learning to life. Students can learn to code through robotics, explore the world from above with drones, and design and create with 3D printing. Each workshop combines fun, creativity, and real-world skills to equip young people for the future.
Kickstart your robotics adventure with the Micromelon Rover. This workshop introduces students to the world of coding and robotics in a fun, hands-on way.
What Students Do
Program the Rover to solve mazes - Compete in sumo-style robot battles - Work together to overcome creative challenges
Outcomes
Students build a solid foundation in coding and problem-solving while exploring real applications of robotics. They gain teamwork skills and confidence without even realising they’re learning — they’re too busy having a blast!
Robotics & Coding
Ready to soar? This workshop introduces students to the exciting world of drones, blending flight skills with coding to create a true hands-on adventure.
What Students Do
Learn the basics of drone safety and operation - Code their drone’s movements step by step - Explore how drones are used in the real world
Outcomes
Students gain an understanding of how drones work and build essential programming skills. By the end, they’ll see drones connect to real world applications, and they’ll have a whole lot of fun while doing it.
Drones & Programming
Ever wanted to turn ideas into reality? This workshop gets students hands on with 3D printing and design, showing them how imagination can take shape right before their eyes.
What Students Do
Use Tinkercad to design and create their own 3D models - Watch their designs come to life on a 3D printer
Outcomes
Students discover the power of digital design and gain practical skills in creativity, problem-solving, and prototyping. They walk away with confidence in using modern tools and a tangible object they dreamed up themselves.
Design & 3D printing
Inspire your students or team with a keynote that blends personal story, industry insight, and a vision for the future of STEM.
What Audiences Experience
Hear Jameson’s journey from a high school robotics student to founding Red Dirt Robotics - Learn about the growing opportunities in tech, drones, and STEM careers - Discover how innovation is shaping education and work in regional and remote Australia
Outcomes
Audiences walk away motivated, informed, and ready to explore new pathways in technology and innovation. Each talk is tailored to suit the group, whether it’s a classroom, conference, or professional development event.

workshop FAQs
-
Each course runs for approximately 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on age and skill level of students.
We try our best to fit to your timetabled lessons to be as minimally disruptive as possible.
-
Our programs are best suited to students in grade 4 up to grade 9. However, each workshop can be enjoyed by students of any age.
We haven’t forgotten about the teachers either, ask us about our PD sessions too!
-
Both the robotics and drones workshops have a maximum capacity of 20 students, with 3D printing capping off at 10.
These numbers are due to equipment limitations, and do not have much flexibility.
-
All course materials (robots, drones, laptops, etc.) are provided by Red Dirt Robotics, so there is no need for you to supply any equipment for the programs. However, if your organisation has its own fleet of robots, we may be able to adapt our program to use your gear, helping students become more familiar with a platform they already have access to (platform dependent).
For the venue, we simply need a classroom large enough to accommodate tables and chairs for each student, along with adequate floor space for activities. For the drones program, a larger room (such as a hall or library) is required to ensure enough space for safe flight.
Additionally, a projector or TV screen is needed.
-
Each of our programs starts at $1200, plus travel expenses. We also offer bundle deals, providing a reduced rate when two or more programs are booked for the same visit.
While we recognise this is a significant amount, we do everything possible to keep costs down. This includes seeking grant funding, camping out of our vehicle, and partnering with local organisations to help subsidise expenses.
We can also direct you to funding opportunities that, while not available to Red Dirt Robotics, may be accessible to your organisation, enabling you to engage our services.
